It all started with the thought “What if we were in charge?”. What if it was our schedule, our products, our community? Would it make it better?

 

The answer is undoubtedly, wholeheartedly, yes. Our names are Paul and Ivy, and we are aflutter to welcome you to Aye Dye! We are the queer millennial owner-operators of this MN based company born out of a desire to work for something that worked for us. We started with an idea for a pheasant farm; because why not, right? Turns out that is.. complicated. So what about ducks? Paul likes ducks!

 

No. No ducks. Live bait vending machines? We saw one once, that could be cool. Also no. It’s been a year now and we needed to pivot away from animals. Cannabis became our next focus since the medical marijuana laws in MN had recently opened to include leaf form, or even farming industrial hemp, but another year later we really needed something that could get its legs in our basement.

 

Then it struck Paul, after years of listening to Ivy complain about not being able to find quality wool yarn in any sort of neon or fluorescent colors, “What if we could make it?”

 

If “What if we were in charge?” was the first good thought, “What if we could make it?” was the second one. Turns out we can, and pretty darn fine too. Our dye process uses biodegradable chemicals in every step to produce colors that are vibrant, bold, and unique on 100% organic merino wool. We hand dye our yarn to order to ensure even and consistent colors for each treasure you create. More details on our dye process and products can be found (here). Our list is somewhat limited at the moment, but be sure that there is always something new on the way!
